Sean Smith

Private Wealth Manager

Sean’s Role

Sean focuses on developing strong relationships with his clients and supporting them throughout the retirement planning process. He communicates constantly, helping them develop and implement personalized plans that lead them toward their goals. With an amiable personality and passion for getting to know people, many of his clients become like friends. He understands who they are and what matters most to them, and he helps them align their resources accordingly. He acts as a financial partner, helping clients with not only their proactive retirement strategies, but with everyday financial questions that arise as they live their life.

Planning Approach

While many of Sean’s clients are in similar seasons of life, each person approaches the planning process differently. Some want to know every detail of their retirement strategy, while others prefer to focus on the big picture and trust Sean to handle the details. By developing a personal relationship with each client, Sean is able to tailor his approach accordingly. He understands his clients intuitively, and he gives them the information and insight needed for them to make wise decisions and feel confident about their financial plans. His goal is to continually educate himself on planning strategies and stay well apprised of his clients’ financial lives, so he’s always ready to answer questions and guide them in the right direction.

Professional Background

Prior to entering the financial industry, Sean worked in construction, and while he enjoyed the work, he wanted to help people in a more personal way. In 2006, he earned his insurance license; in 2007, he earned his health insurance license; and in 2008, he met Ron Gabel—at the time, Sean and Ron (and several other members of the NoxNumis team) worked together at a nationwide insurance firm. When Ron and John Toothaker started their financial advisory practice, Sean joined the team, excited to offer clients a comprehensive level of planning support.

Personal

Sean lives in Wichita, Kansas, with his wife Alyson and their two goldendoodles, Beasley and Reggie. They have four adult children, Brexton, Braylen, Brynlee, and Koby. Their family loves spending time outside, and on the weekends, they enjoy fishing, golfing, or camping together. Sean’s family is incredibly important to him, and every week since 2010, he has made it a point to have dinner with his kids on Tuesday nights—a tradition that has become his favorite part of the week.
